Assistant Editor / Deputy Editor depending on experience

DJ Murphy Publishers is looking for an Assistant Editor / Deputy Editor for Horse&Rider magazine. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the UK’s number one equestrian monthly magazine. Generating ideas for exciting content for our readers, then organising and attending photoshoots and writing up the features will be all in a day’s work, so it’s essential that you’re very organised and highly motivated. You’ll also be responsible for subbing copy from freelance writers into Horse&Rider’s tone and style, proof reading and carrying out picture research for features and managing approvals for pages.

The successful candidate will be able to provide support for the rest of the editorial team as well as collaborating with the design team to ensure each page looks as good as possible.

The right candidate has a wealth of horsey experience alongside a passion for journalism and writing incisive, exciting content for print and online. You must have excellent computer skills (InDesign skills an advantage), perfect grammar, be flexible and able to work calmly and methodically to press deadlines as part of a small team.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our offices in Grayshott, Surrey. Candidates must have a full driving licence.

Sub Editor – six month contract

DJ Murphy Publishers is looking for an experienced Sub-Editor for Horse&Rider magazine. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the UK’s number one equestrian monthly magazine as part of the editorial team. The role involves subbing copy from freelance writers into Horse&Rider’s tone and style, proof reading and carrying out picture research for features. You’ll need to collaborate with the design team to ensure each page looks as good as possible, alongside providing support to the rest of the editorial team and managing approvals for pages.

Junior Sales Executive

Due to an internal promotion an exciting full-time opportunity has arisen for a junior sales executive to join the UK's leading independent equestrian publisher.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and fun team, working across DJ Murphy’s monthly titles and websites.
· The role involves building and servicing a large database of clients primarily within the classifieds section.
· You’ll be comfortable ensuring all avenues are explored in a quest to grow our advertising database.
· We are seeking a highly self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with an excellent telephone manner.
· The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines are also essential qualities for this role

In return we offer comprehensive training, ongoing support, and a competitive basic salary + commission.

A knowledge of horses and a passion for the equestrian world would be a definite advantage
